What we believe

Thank You for taking the time to find out more about House of Refuge & Deliverance Ministries and our community of faith. We pray that after browsing our website you will consider visiting and becoming a more active part of our growing community of faith.

We Are Family

We are simply a family made up of “regular” people who love the Lord and know what it means to trust Him in the real world. We have a wide variety of people from all walks of life who call “HORAD” home. We are so blessed to be among a very diverse group. The people of HORAD are warm, loving and ready to accept anyone who walks through the doors. We feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful collection of people.

Our church is not just about a weekly service on a Sunday morning or Bible study on a Wednesday night; but truly a place of refuge and safety. Our common faith in our Lord Jesus paints the way we “do life together” and is the undercurrent of all our social interactions. We share our joys, successes and good times. We also share our hurts, disappointments and failures. Our Christian walk of faith encourages us to trust God in whatever the circumstances may be.

Our Statement of Beliefs

1. We believe the Bible is the only perfect order of our faith and way of life to which nothing can be added or taken way. (II Peter 1:21, II Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 1:16, Revelation 22:18-19)

2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God. He assumed a human body through a virgin called Mary to be both divine and human. (John 1:1-14, I Timothy 3:16)

3. We believe that regeneration is received only through faith in Jesus Christ, who was raised from the dead. For this reason we baptize by immersion in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. (Romans 3:24, II Corinthians 5:17, I Corinthians 1:30, Acts 2:38)

4. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)

5. We believe in commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Communion) according to Luke 22:19-20 and I Corinthians 11:23-30.

6. We believe that provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Bible and privileges for the church in this present age. (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, John 5:14, James 5:14)

7. We believe in the personal bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church. (Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:16, I Corinthians 15:51-54)
